About
Kadin Llewellyn GBA
Llewellyn Benefit Consulting · Nashville, TN
I started working in employee benefits in 2018 and have since served clients ranging from major hospital systems and manufacturers of every size to universities and small religious organizations.
The work has always been the same: underwriting review, renewal and cost projections, plan modeling, carrier and vendor comparison, and RFP coordination. I built Llewellyn Benefit Consulting so that work can be bought on its own.

Position
Why independent
When I started out in benefits consulting I was part of a small, effective team that didn't take commissions, but billed out an hourly rate. Our work was effective, unbiased, and valued for its worth. After we were bought out by a large firm, that model went away and the business model began to change.
I started Llewellyn Benefit Consulting to bring employers that same unbiased service I offered when I started working in benefits consulting. I think the analysis should be separated from the sale. Not because brokers are acting badly — most are not — but because a financial opinion is worth more when the person giving it has no stake in the transaction it describes.
So I charge for the analysis directly, take nothing from carriers, and place nothing. If the right answer is to keep your current broker and accept the renewal, that is what the report will say.
Practice
How I work
- Engagements
- I work project by project, billed hourly. Retainers once the cadence is predictable.
- Capacity
- I keep the active client list short. Fewer engagements means each one gets the attention the work requires.
- Deliverable
- I scope it to the engagement and review it with you in draft before it is final.
- References
- I can share them on request. I will not publish invented quotes, and prior client work belongs to a former employer.
